Holiday Ribbon Topiary Tutorial

Did you know there are only 9 weeks left until Christmas?  You can hate me now, but I am already doing my Christmas shopping and ....yes, I have sneaked a few listens to some Christmas songs.  I LOVE this time of year!  The great thing about these ribbon topiaries is that they can be created in any color for any holiday or event!  I'm creating some pink and green ones for a baby shower I'm helping style later this year.

If you want to learn how to make your own, here's my easy step by step tutorial - so easy that you'll be hitting your nearest craft store and calling yourself Martha very soon!

And the final result?  SOO pretty!!! I can't wait to make a matching one to put both on my mantle for the holidays!  I'm going to make a "Ho, Ho, Ho" banner to put in between them!

Shelly & Jay 10-22-2011

I had so much fun at Shelly & Jay's wedding! I had the pleasure of meeting Shelly the first time at Bellezza Salon & Spa when I did her makeup for her bridal portraits, but I felt like I had already known her because her mom, (also a client of mine), has told me all about her.

I really enjoyed every minute of this wedding!  The guests were so much fun; as you can tell from the slideshow below, they never left the dance floor!  Those are the best kind of wedding receptions!
Check out the photos I took below and then enjoy a fun slideshow below!

Alisha & Brette 10-15-11

I had the pleasure of meeting bride, Alisha, earlier this year when she came to see me for a makeup application for some engagement photos she won! After talking to her for just a bit, I felt like I had already known her a long time.

Her idea for the wedding was to have a "Twilight"-esque quality, with lots of twinkly, romantic lighting in the courtyard. Also being a huge fan of "Twilight", I knew exactly what she was talking about and we tried to recreate the atmosphere for her reception!

Brette & Alisha had a very small, intimate ceremony at Tidewater Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, SC.  The cocktail hour and reception were right after, in the courtyard and hall behind the chapel.  I loved this venue!! Perfect for great Charleston weather because you can open the doors to the courtyard and have a indoor/outdoor feel.

Their colors were black and gold, with hints of red here and there.  The guests were all about having fun on the dance floor all night! It …

Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats

Do you like Rice Krispie treats?  How about cake batter? I love anything cake batter flavored, in fact, I'd rather lick the bowl clean than eat an actual cake.
Well, I found a great recipe for cake batter Rice Krispies on How Sweet It Is blog and had to recreate this recipe!  I had to add in my own changes though because truthfully, I don't really like plain Rice Krispie treats.

Here's what you'll need:
3 Tablespoons of Butter or margarine  1 10oz bag of mini marshmallows  1/4 cup of yellow cake mix (just the dry mix, do not add anything to mix), also, I like the cake batter taste, so I added 1/3 cup!)  6 cups of Rice Krispie treats (I actually did about 5 1/4 cups of Rice Krispies)  Sprinkles
First, melt the butter on a low heat in a large saucepan, then add the marshmallows, continually stirring until they melt.  Once melted, scoop in the yellow cake mix one spoonful at a time until it melts.  Next, you'll want to add the rice krispie treats (I did this 2 cups…
